Why I built Group Awesome

When my daughter started her first hobby, my wife and I had to go through what was hands down the most absurdly confusing and complicated sign-up process I have ever seen. And once we were finally through it, there was no reason to open the platform again. Maybe it does something useful for the organiser. For us as users, signing up was the end of it.

That annoyed me enough that it turned into an idea: there really should be a better platform for running hobby groups. So I started building this one: a platform that is awesome, not awful.

Right now, as I write this first post, it is very basic. I don't want it to ever feel like it is bloated and complex, but it could do with a few more things. From here I want to build features for both sides of a group: the members who just want to know what is happening, and the owners who have to keep it running. Probably features aimed at specific kinds of groups and niches too. Time will tell.

Cheers, Mike.
